You’re probably asking yourself: Why should I hire NP Immigration? What does NP Immigration have that others don’t?  What sets NP Immigration apart from the hundreds of other immigration firms in Columbus?

The answer is this: Nicholas Pasquarello.  Ok, so… who is he?

---

Thank you so much for visiting NP Immigration, I am Nicholas Pasquarello (the “NP” in NP Immigration), but please, just call me Nick =) I became an attorney to specifically practice immigration law and I’d like to tell you why.

I am originally from the Philadelphia area of Pennsylvania and through sheer luck, I was born in the United States of America.  I moved to Columbus, Ohio to attend The Ohio State University in 2008 and Columbus has been my home ever since.  As a U.S. citizen, I was completely oblivious to the complexities and difficulties faced by immigrants yearning to have lawful status or at the very least live without fear of being separated by deportation.

I became an activist and organizer during undergrad at Ohio State.  I first engaged in labor campaigns to support overworked and underpaid campus workers.  I gradually began to learn about the plight of immigrants and the interconnectedness of social inequality through my activism.  I specifically learned about all this through one individual in particular: Ruben Castilla Herrera.

Ruben was a prolific community organizer in Columbus for the fight for social justice generally and the fight for immigrant rights specifically.  While Ruben was more closely associated with immigrant rights, he practiced intersectionality.  He knew oppression doesn’t occur in a vacuum; that injustices related to labor, race, gender, immigration, etc. are interconnected and that combatting these injustices requires solidarity.

You could count on him showing up to any protest or rally in the city in support of #BlackLivesMatter, LGBTQ rights, the fight for a Free Palestine, worker rights, women’s bodily autonomy, etc.  This was how I met Ruben.  He came to the protests I helped organize to support campus workers. We met in the movement and formed a bond that would last a lifetime.

Ruben and I were both partners in life and co-conspirators in the struggle for social justice.  For seven years, we worked side-by-side fighting for immigrant rights.  Throughout these years, I ruminated on what my long-term role would be in the fight for immigrant rights.  I decided the best way for me to directly advocate for immigrants was to become an attorney.  So, I began law school in 2017.

During law school, on April 6, 2019, Ruben tragically and suddenly passed away.  While this is by far the hardest loss I’ve ever had to bear, Ruben isn’t really gone.  He is present in the lives he changed, the people he inspired and galvanized into action, and he will always be present with me and the work I do through NP Immigration.  Plain and simple: Ruben made me the person I am today. He is the reason I do what I do.  Ruben is the catalyst, inspiration, and endless reserve of hope driving NP Immigration forward to represent the immigrants who need and deserve it most.

So, this is what you’re getting at NP Immigration.  You’re getting me, Nick.  You’re getting the Nick molded, mentored, and shaped by Ruben Castilla Herrera.  I could speak of my years of experience handling immigration cases, my degrees, my credentials, etc., but that is far less important when considering NP Immigration to represent your immigration matter.

You should choose NP Immigration because here, we are equals.  My clients are people, not cases.  People with names, stories, and families.  People who deserve respect. I seek genuine connection to build rapport and trust with my clients. I didn’t learn this from law school.  I learned this from Ruben.

These are our roots.
